The Benefits of Outdoor Play & LearningOutdoor Play and Learning

The ADO Mini-Explorers Preschool is focussed on outdoor play and learning.

The Benefits of Being Outdoors

Outdoor play and experiential learning offers fantastic opportunities and rewards for children and young people. It provides numerous benefits through fun, enjoyment, motivation and personal development. There is no substitute for using our natural senses by smelling, touching and listening to the natural world and wildlife around us.
There is recent research supporting and identifying links between standards of physical health and understanding how to connect and experience the natural environment. There is growing international evidence that natural environments are beneficial for psychological and emotional health. Children who have lots of opportunities for physical play are more likely to stay active and fit in the future.

Exploring The Great Outdoors

Risk Management

Mini Explorers Preschool is fully risk assessed and our programme of activities and materials are age appropriate. Our staff are all Enhanced DBS checked and we work with and in conjunction with qualified youth workers. We have qualified First Aid staff on site at all times. Exposure to acceptable levels of risk in the security of supervised groups will support children to learn about the risk and challenges of growing up and life.

Child-Led Play

Child Led play is essential for the development of young children. At Ado Mini-Explorers the children are given the opportunity to create, imagine and explore using their interests and passions. The staff at ADO Mini-Explorers use the Early Years Foundation Stage and the Letters and Sounds Framework to offer children resources and inspiring opportunity’s for play as well as support throughout the day to enable the children’s learning to be purposeful and have a lasting effect throughout the Early Years and beyond. In addition children take part in three adult directed Basecamps throughout the day, including chances to discuss interests and home life as well as learn songs, read stories and play phonics and number games. Throughout the day the children will have the opportunity to partake in adult initiated activities in addition to child led free play.
