A Unique Learning Experience
“A child, more than anyone else, is a spontaneous observer of nature” – Maria Montessori
At ADO Mini-Explorers our aim is to provide a unique learning experience with animal, wildlife, nature and outdoor themes with a fundamental ethos of Forest School and Bushcraft involving child-led and outdoor play and opportunities to get close to animals, wildlife and nature.
Our nursery manager is a fully qualified Level 3 Forest School leader and trained in handling the ADO animals.
The ADO Mini-Explorers are the youngest members of our ADO Academy and as such we integrate our own animals and animal encounters into all of our planning. From creepy crawlies to chinchillas, snakes to goats, the children will be taught about the animals and be able to interact with them on a regular basis.
During our Animal Encounters hygiene and safety is our priority. There is always a trained member of staff leading any animal handling and a first aider present. In addition the children are taught how to act calm and to be careful around the animals. All children wash their hands thoroughly after any encounter and before eating.
The Forest School ethos encourages children to spend as much time as possible within the natural world. This should happen across all the seasons and it allows children to be in charge of their own learning, with supportive encouragement from trained staff.
